The Alabama Department of Economic & Community Affairs – Energy Division is offering a limited number $400 scholarships to cover a portion of the cost of tuition.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Scholarships are designated for building operators and maintenance professionals currently employed by a public entity. The types of facilities students may work in includes but is not limited to K-12 schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, and other office or commercial buildings.
  • Scholarship recipients must baseline at least one facility, providing 12 months of utility data preceding the training and 12 months of utility data following the training. The utility data will be entered into ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager as part of the class training and quarterly updates are expected to be made in Portfolio Manager for one year after the training is complete.

Employers who send more than one student to attend a BOC training series are eligible for to receive 10% off each additional registration after the first full-price registration. To take advantage of this discount, please contact the program administrator at
